Optional Additions for Chamomile Bath Salts:

  1. Oatmeal: Adding 2TBSP ground oatmeal to your chamomile bath salts can help to soothe dry or irritated skin.
  2. Essential oils: In addition to chamomile flowers, you can also add other essential oils to your bath salts to create a custom scent. Lavender essential oil, peppermint, and eucalyptus are all popular choices. Essential oils are strong, so you only need to add about 5 drops.
  3. Other Dried herbs: In addition to chamomile flowers, you can also add other dried herbs to your bath salts, such as lavender or rose petals. Lavender and chamomile together is one of my favorite combinations for relaxation!

For external use only. Always patch test any new product or ingredient to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction.

Storage and Shelf Life:

The shelf life of chamomile bath salts can vary depending on the ingredients used and how they are stored. Generally, bath salts have a shelf life of 6 months to 1 year.

To maximize the shelf life of your chamomile bath salts, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Try to keep away from water, as this can cause the bath salts to clump and harden.

I prefer to make mine in small batches in order to maximize freshness.

trick of the trade

Enjoy in moderation. While chamomile bath salts are generally safe and non-toxic, it’s a good idea to enjoy them in moderation. Use a handful of bath salts per bath and avoid using them every day to prevent skin irritation or overexposure to essential oils (if you added them).

Packaging Your Bath Salts

  1. Mason Jars: You can package bath salts in cute mason jars, which come in various sizes and shapes. You can even decorate the jars with ribbons or labels.
  2. Muslin Bags/Tea Bags: Fill small muslin bags or a tea bag with bath salts and tie them with a ribbon. These bags can be reused for other purposes, such as holding potpourri or small items.
  3. Test Tubes: Bath salts packaged in test tubes can make a fun and unique gift. You can tie a ribbon or attach a tag with the scent and ingredients information.
  4. Sachets: You can package bath salts in sachets, which can be made from various materials such as muslin, organza, cheesecloth, or cotton. These can be decorated with ribbon, lace, or other embellishments.
  5. Glass Bottles: You can package bath salts in clear or colored glass bottles, which can be decorated with labels, tags, or charms.
  6. Tin Containers: Bath salts can be packaged in small tin containers that are durable and easy to store. You can decorate the containers with labels, ribbons, or stickers.
  7. Recyclable Materials: You can package bath salts in recyclable materials such as cardboard boxes or paper bags. These can be decorated with labels or stamps.

The packaging should be functional, safe, and pretty! Add chamomile or lavender flowers for extra color and a visual teat! You can choose the packaging that best fits the style and purpose of your bath salts, as well as the preferences of your recipient!
