Looking for a refreshing and fun way to pamper your skin after a long day in the sun? These homemade Lilac and Aloe Shower Jellies are the perfect all-natural treat to cool and soothe your skin.

These DIY shower jelly soaps are a dupe for Lush shower jellies (I realize they are less fun because I didn’t add any faux coloring), and are sure to provide much fun in the shower and indulgence for your skin. Infused with the delicate and soothing scent of lilac-infused aloe, these shower jellies offer a luxurious cleansing experience that’s perfect for after-sun care to soothe and cool the skin. So why not give your skin the love and care it deserves with this easy and delightful recipe? These also make a great gift!

You will notice this makes a enough to fill a 1/2 pint mason jar. It only lasts up to two weeks… and I am kind of a hippie, so that is plenty for my showering needs. Feel free to double the recipe for your own needs!

Ingredients:

lilac shower jellies ingredients- soap, molds, water, gelatin powder, salt

For this recipe, I first made my own shower gel using Aloe and Lilacs, but you can use any skin-safe flower of your choice! Chamomile and lavender would be excellent substitutes.

If you don’t want to make your own body wash to use in this recipe, you can purchase an aloe body wash to use.

Optional: Natural soap colorant or food coloring

Supplies:

  • Medium-sized mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Silicone molds of your choice or small plastic cups or an ice cube tray. I used sugar cube molds.
  • Airtight container for storage ( I prefer a mason jar)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, sprinkle 1TBSP of gelatin over 2/3 cup of hot water. Whisk the mixture together until the gelatin is fully dissolved.

2. Add one teaspoon of salt to the gelatin mixture and stir to combine.

3. Slowly pour the lilac and aloe body wash into the bowl with the gelatin mixture, whisking continuously to incorporate.

5. Place the molds or cups in the refrigerator and allow them to set for 2-3 hours.

6. Once the jellies have fully set, remove them from the molds or cups.

7. Store them in an airtight container.

How to Use Shower Jellies

To use, simply take a small handful of the jellies into the shower with you and lather it up with warm water.

The jellies will provide a gentle cleansing while also delivering a cooling and soothing sensation to the skin. Be sure to rinse off thoroughly with cool water after use, and follow up with a gentle moisturizer to help lock in hydration and promote healing.

Enjoy!  Use in place of a normal liquid body wash. Just because it is called a “shower” jelly doesn’t mean you can’t use them for bath time too! Just change the name to bath jellies!

Storage and Shelf Life

The aloe shower jellies should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh. Because they contain natural ingredients and do not have preservatives, they may spoil more quickly than store-bought shower products.

It’s best to use the shower jellies within 2-3 weeks of making them to ensure they are still fresh and effective. If you notice any changes in texture or smell, or if the shower jellies start to look discolored, it’s best to throw them away and make a fresh batch.

Benefits of Lilac and Aloe for After-Sun Care

Aloe vera has long been known for its soothing and cooling properties, making it an excellent ingredient for treating sunburns. The combination of aloe vera gel and liquid castile soap in this recipe helps to gently cleanse the skin while also moisturizing and soothing any sun-damaged areas.

Additionally, the dried lilacs in this recipe contain anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce redness and inflammation caused by sunburns. The lilacs also add a pleasant, natural fragrance to the jellies, making them a lovely and refreshing addition to your after-sun skincare routine.

FAQs About Lilac Shower Jelly

You can use the shower jellies as often as you like.. Simply use in place of regular body wash.

Shower jellies can be used on both your face and body. However, keep in mind that these shower jellies contain some essential oils in the castile soap, so if you have sensitive skin, you may want to limit their use on your face to once or twice a week because essential oils are very strong.

There are a few reasons why you might choose to use shower jellies instead of regular soap.

Firstly, shower jellies have a unique, gelatinous texture that makes them fun and playful to use. They can be squeezed and squished, and they feel cool and refreshing on the skin, making them a delightful addition to any shower routine.

Secondly, shower jellies can be formulated with a variety of nourishing ingredients, such as aloe vera gel and essential oils, which can help to moisturize and soothe the skin. This makes them a great option for people with dry or sensitive skin who may find traditional soap to be too harsh or drying.

Lastly, shower jellies are a great way to mix up your shower routine and add a touch of variety to your skincare regimen. With endless possibilities for customization, you can create shower jellies that cater to your specific skincare needs and preferences, from energizing citrus scents to relaxing lavender and chamomile blends.

These Homemade Lilac and Aloe Shower Jellies are a fun and unique DIY shower product that can be used to soothe and nourish your skin after spending time in the sun. They’re easy to make at home, and they make a great homemade gift idea for friends and family who love natural skincare products.

Using simple ingredients like aloe vera gel, dried lilacs, and gelatin, you can create your own soap jellies that rival the quality of expensive store-bought products. Plus, making these DIY shower jellies is a fun little treat that you can enjoy with friends and family, and you’ll love how much money you can save by making them yourself for a fraction of the price of a Lush shower jelly.
